Windows 10 alterts

Hi.
I have just swapped to Bitdefender security after many years using Zonealarm (from when it first launched). I am no expert on Windows just an ordinary guy. My issue is that now I am getting loads of alerts that various windows programs are asking to access the internet. The alerts only give the program name and location, so I have no idea whether to block it or not. I have searched the forum for help, but the search engine here didn't help at all.
Advice would be very helpful.
