Bitdefender and the Polytechnica University of Bucharest inaugurated a state-of-the-art computer laboratory.

Global cybersecurity solutions company Bitdefender has invested more than €50,000 in upgrading a computer lab for students at the Faculty of Automation and Computers at the Politehnica University of Bucharest (UPB).

The lab is equipped with 21 state-of-the-art computers, an interactive projector and modern furniture. The space provides students with high-performance hardware and a working environment of the highest standards. Around 600 students will attend classes in the new lab, where Bitdefender specialists will share with them theoretical and practical skills related to cybersecurity.

Students will study in the lab courses in numerical methods, image and sound processing, human-computer interaction, object-oriented programming, algorithm analysis, computer organization and assembly languages, software project management, image content analysis, computational geometry and software project management.

Mihnea Moisescu, Dean of the Faculty of Automation and Computers.

For the past decade, Bitdefender and UPB have partnered in the Stagii pe Bune internship program, and company employees have taught courses to students of the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science. At the national level, Bitdefender has contributed to the development of undergraduate and master's degree programs in cybersecurity at the University of Bucharest, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi. The subjects are taught by Bitdefender employees, with dozens of PhD and MSc students involved in the training. More than a thousand students have completed Bitdefender's training programs in recent years, some of whom are now in strategically important roles in the company.

At the end of 2018, Bitdefender moved its headquarters to the Orhideea Towers office complex, located next to the student campus in the Regie area, in the immediate vicinity of the Polytechnica University of Bucharest, where over half of Bitdefender’s more than 1,800 employees work. Around 50% of Bitdefender's employees are involved in research and development (R&D) activities in its five R&D centres in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Targu Mures and Timisoara.

The next generation of cybersecurity specialists is eager to join the industry and make the digital world safer.
