Why are ports 22 & 443 open

Options

This question seems silly. We are in the modern internet, yet I got curious after doing several scans of my outside network. Running Zenmap, it listed ports 22 & 443 as open. I then tried using a service “Shields up” listed on the GRC website. It also found them open. Curiously, UpNP is not showing up as active or in use. It was on my MacBook Air m1. I was able to close it by disabling “Airplay”. But with the iPad, this is head scratcher. Why would it be open? Is it not supposed to be closed except for accessing a secure server, like software update?

  • Adding to post: I also found “tzulo.com” ports 8082 & 8083 open. tzulo is a “medium security risk website. Now, this is getting interesting.

Hello @PatMan and welcome to the Community!

The port 443 UDP must be open for VPN connectivity, as all customers that use one of our security suites also benefit from 200 Mb/day of free VPN encrypted traffic. But I cannot pronounce myself in regards to ports 22, 8082 and 8083. I would recommend contacting the Technical Support Teams, as more information might be required to provide an accurate answer.
