BitDefender Total Security vs Veeam Agent for Windows

Hi

I'm just letting you know that BitDefender Total Security breaks Veeam's Agent for WIndows (backup and restore utility) when Windows 11 update 22H2 is installed. The symptom is an error reported by Veeam that attempts to take a vss snapshot fail unexpectedly.

The solution is either to turn off Advanced Threat Defense in BitDefender (probably not a great idea), or to add two exceptions for Advanced Threat Defense processing:

c:\program files\veeam\endpoint backup\veeam.endpoint.manager.exe

and

c:\program files\veeam\endpoint backup\veeam.endpoint.manager.exe

With these exceptions defined, Veeam backup and File Level Restore work fine under Windows 11 22H2 with BitDefender Total Security. Other exceptions may be needed if different Veeam Functionality is used.

Had to remove BitDefender Total Security to get Veeam working again. Glad there is another way to make it work. Hope the next BitDefender update will allow Veeam to work on 22H2 with BitDefender Total Security.

It seems like I am also having an issue related to this. I am running Veeam on our server 2012r2 and since installing Gravityzone for business we are now getting VSS snapshot errors preventing backups.

Clearly they (Bitdefender) have not done anything in response to the reporting of this as a false positive.....

So frustrating. So many issues.
