BitDefender Vulnerability Scan - Irrelevant Vunerabilities?

Have Bit Defender Total Security product. Bit Defender highlights critical windows updates not installed:

  1. Microsoft Defender Antivirus Anti-malware Platform
  2. Update for Windows security Platform anti-malware
  3. Security Intelligence Updates for Microsoft Defender Antivirus.

Do I need theses updates even with BitDefender's Total Security? I'm not using Microsoft Defender.

If you are using bitdefender product, then you can simply ignore those warning.

You can also do a quick check on this. Download and install the latest windows defender updates from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates

Run the vulnerability scan again in bitdefender.

  • Hello,

I confirm, it's not mandatory to install the highlighted updates, but I think you can do it if you wish, if not for security (since Bitdefender is installed), for peace of mind.

It's always recommended to keep the operating system and the apps you regularly use up to date and even if windows defender is not the antivirus on duty here, I see nothing wrong with moving forward with those updates.
