BD + Firefox = CPU consumption
Whenever I start Firefox, BD goes berserk and consumes 100% on one core. Startup of Firefix is delayed until BD cools down again. Is a plugin to blame? I have the following plugins:
Adblock Plus
Autoplay No More
S3 Download Manager
DuckDuckGo Search
HTTPS Everywhere
I don't care about cookies
NoScript
PassHash Clipboard
PfP: Pain-free Passwords (legacy)
Youtube's Annotations No More

Using so many extension/add ons can slow your browsing speed and increase the use of your cpu processor.
You can still try to contact bitdefender support and see what do they have to say about this.
Generate bitdefender BDsysLog: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/1922/
Generate bitdefender support tool logs: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/1733/
Generate bitdefender connectivity logs: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/9689/
Share the logs & your query with bitdefender support team by dropping them an email at bitsy@bitdefender.com
If the generated logs are larger in size, you can upload the logs to google drive or we.tl (7days link validity for free users) or ask the support team to provide you with the online link & password of bitdefender cloud where you can upload the logs and share the upload link with the support team.
The support team will reply back to your query within next 24-48 hours excluding weekends.

Hi @Ranulf,
You could also apply the elimination method and disable each plugin one at the time and check if the browser speed improves. Assuming the system requirements are met, turn off these Bitdefender modules temporarily: Bitdefender Shield, Online Threat Prevention and Advanced Threat Defense. Then turn them back on to identify which one could be the culprit for the high CPU usage.
If the issue is indeed caused by one of the security modules above, kindly get in touch with the Support Teams, as more information is required to troubleshoot this behavior.
You can get in touch with our engineers by choosing one of the contact channels available here:
