BD latests version can't detect simple tracker? Why?
Windows 11 out of the box.
Only time I ever use Edge is to download Chrome. I install Chrome and proceed to set my google account. Next time I try to use Chrome I get redirected to this unwanted tracker:
track.clickcrystal.com
I install BitDefender and perform a SUPER FULL scan and the report says: π ππΌ Your computer is OK!
It's not true, the hijacker is still active at the C:\windows\system32\hosts.txt file:
Redirecting all google traffic to a local server.
Why is Bit Defender not detecting this? The stealthy method used by the installer tells me it's malware. It should have been detected in the paid version.
Can you advice?
Thanks

The host file is correct and not related to any malicious behaviour, hence bitdefender will not detect it. The websites or their IP linked in the host file will stop the internet from accessing those website. If you will remove the adobe & google website or their ip from the host file, you will be able to surf the respective websites.
