Bit defender firewall blocks my network server storage
Bit Defender firewall blocks my network server storage, but when I toggle "allow" in the default application behavior it works, is it safe to use it like this? or is there a better way to do it?
Thank you very much

Here are several steps you can take to address this:
1. Identify the Blocked Connection:
- Open Bitdefender and go to the "Firewall" module (the exact path might vary depending on your version).
- Check the "Rules" or "Blocked Connections" section for any entries related to your network server storage. This will help you understand how the firewall is blocking access.
2. Create an Exception or Rule:
- Within the Firewall module, look for an option to "Add Exception" or "Create Rule."
- Specify the following details:
- Application: Select the program trying to access the server storage (e.g., a file explorer, backup software).
- Direction: Choose "Incoming" or "Outgoing" depending on how the connection is initiated.
- Local IP: Enter the IP address of your computer.
- Remote IP: Enter the IP address of your network server.
- Protocol: Select the protocol used for the connection (e.g., TCP or UDP).
- Port (if applicable): Specify the port number used by the server storage.
- Save the exception or rule.
3. Check Network Detection Settings:
- Go to the "Network Detection" or "Network Adapter" settings within Bitdefender's firewall.
- Ensure your network is chosen as "Home" or "Private," not "Public." Public networks often have stricter firewall rules.
4. Temporarily Disable Firewall (for testing):
- If you're still facing issues, try temporarily disabling Bitdefender's firewall entirely to see if it resolves the problem. Remember to re-enable it afterward for security.
5. Check for Updates:
- Ensure Bitdefender is updated to the latest version, as updates often include bug fixes and compatibility improvements.
