Evil McAfee puppy is haunting me

I have a popup haunting me. It's not regulated just to a browser, it is stuck to the screen like a demon! Bit Defender is not catching it, and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I uninstalled the Opera browser in case that was where it came in. I didn't care that much for the browser anyway. For right now I am stuck either waiting 5-20 min for the puppy to wander off on it's own or clicking the damn link, trying to close it, telling it sure I'll take the discount, and then being able to close that page. And it doesn't open up in a browser, it opens up in it's own little box like the demon child it is so I can't even tell what scam site it's going to. Please tell me how to send the puppy away!!!

You may be a victim of adware. Kindly check if the following steps help you

1) Open the Run command and execute the following commands one by one:

temp – delete all the files in the folder.

%temp% – delete all the files in the folder.

prefetch – delete all the files in the folder.

2) Reset your web browsers:

Thank you both for your replies! Flexx I did all of your recommendations and still it was popping up. I ended up having to use the malware that garioch7 advised to get rid of it. It said that it was something "PUP" that came on my computer. Luckily I have gotten rid of it now. Thank you both again!
