Outgoing emails being flagged as spam

When sending outgoing emails (using Thunderbird) and with Bitdefender running, we recently starting getting notices from SpamHaus and another similar organization stating that our emails are being flagged because they could be spam, suspicious, etc. Thus, they are not sent through.

I started experimenting and noticed that, if I turn off Bitdefender in the System preferences/Network settings of my Mac, the emails suddenly go through.

Obviously, I don't want to do this every time I send an email. Has anybody every encountered this? Is there something I can adjust in Bitdefender settings to fix this?

TIA
