Internet Banking Webpage Blocked?

Bitdefender throws an alert every time i open my internet banking webpage. The alert says that it has blocked a threat named GT:JS.Hyena.3.E85A7956. A second attempt at opening the page named the threat as GT:JS.Hyena.3.FD468779. Even though these alerts appear, the webpage still loads and allows me to log in (which I have not done ever since I got these alerts). Google finds no results on these threats and I cannot find any virus list in Bitdefender Central to explain what this threat is. Googling "JS.Hyena" reveals that it seems to be a Node.JS library that has been utilised in the code of the banking website. Can anyone explain what these threats are and whether I should take them seriously and notify the bank or are they just an over-sensitivity to a JavaScript library?

  • Hello @K.Hinge,

By the looks of it and since we are talking about a banking website, it could be a false positive detection. To find out for sure, you can use the link below to report an incorrect detection to the Bitdefender Labs:

Once confirmed, false alarms are corrected within hours.

The files are related to the blocking of JavaScript. However, browsing the banking website should not detect embedded JavaScript because banking websites are typically safe from any malicious content, unless it is a phishing website.

To inquire about why JavaScript is being detected on the banking website, you will need to contact Bitdefender support by visiting https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/

Based on your selected product and the type of issue you're facing, you can get in touch with a support representative through email, chat, or a phone call.

If you choose email, you will receive a ticket number on your registered email. The support team will reply within the next 24-48 hours, excluding weekends.

Additionally, if you believe that a website or file has been incorrectly blocked by Bitdefender, you can share the details with our malware researchers by filling out the form at the link provided below:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/29358/

If the website or file is indeed incorrectly blocked, the detection will be removed within a maximum of 72 hours. However, if the detection still persists after 72 hours, please consider the website or file as malicious, as determined by our malware researchers, and the detection will remain.

Can you also share the banking website here?
