Should You Disable JavaScript to Prevent Unauthorized Malware Downloads?

Hello

Should JavaScript be disabled in the browser to prevent unauthorized downloads of malware (such as the addition of a JS/Agent.RCS without permission)?

If you turn off JavaScript in your browser, many websites might not work properly because they need JavaScript to function. When antimalware software detects malicious JavaScript on a website, it tries to stop the harmful scripts from downloading onto your computer, but it can't remove them from the website itself.

  • Hi @Quest13892,

As @Flexx pointed out, websites rely heavily on JavaScript for essential functions, such as dynamic content, interactive features, and even basic navigation. Disabling it can make them unusable or may significantly reduce their functionality, so this really affects the browsing experience. Bitdefender will detect and block malicious scripts and downloads on your device, so if you have it installed and active, I wouldn't worry much about this.
What you can do is to ensure the browsers you use are up to date, and be cautious with emails, links, and attachments from unknown or untrusted sources.

    Regards,
