  • Apologies - I'd written the 1st comment and then THOUGHT I had a solution so deleted it. But here I go again.....

I have been getting alerts from BitDefender stating:

    Online Threat Prevention

We blocked this phishing page for your protection:

    https://mail.neillmackenzie.com/

    Accessed by: svchost.exe

Phishing pages attempt to obtain sensitive information such as login credentials or credit card details by disguising as trustworthy entities. The stolen data can be then used for financial gain.

Neill MacKenzie is my name and domain name

I ran a Full System Scan which took over 18 hours and Bitdefender found Trojan.GenericKD.30866397

Bitdefender dealt with it and came back and told me my computer was clean.

I restarted my computer and did another Full System Scan which only took 1.5 hours and again I was told that the computer was clean however, I am still getting the above alerts.

Despite what the scan says, is it likely that my computer is still infected? If so, any advice as to a solution would be great.

Can I stop, or at least slow down the appearance of the alerts?

    Many thanks.

    Hi Member,

As I checked your website it is not getting blocked by bitdefender. Screenshot attached below.

Well I have come across various people having issue between SVCHOST.EXE & bitdefender blocking it access in past one week.

SVCHOST.EXE is an important system file. Dealing the file in wrong manner can truly hinder the working of your PC completely.

I would request you to first generate Bitdefender log : https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/1922/

Secondly, I would request you to drop an email to bitsy@bitdefender.com with the log attached along with your query. Replies may be delayed due to less staff and covid19. Rest be assure that they will reply back asap.

I am also tagging a bitdefender staff member and see if they can help you in someway (@Alex D. )

Hope your issue gets resolved fast.

    Regards

  • Hi,

It took a couple of weeks to sort out but the answer came back from the support desk as a "false positive". Hopefully, the problem is now sorted.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction - much appreciated
