Can Bitdefender VPN Filter Adware?

I know a VPN it's a privacy oriented product and the question might be silly, but I usually get messages of infected webpages just by entering my anime sites from adware (I started using crunchyroll to avoid it), the thing is that when I have the VPN turned on I don't get any warnings, why is that?

Bitdefender VPN can also block unwanted ads on websites you visit.
