For some reason deff.nelreports.net and bzib.nelreport.net keeps triggering threat protection
It says it's ceritifcates are expired and can't use edge browser without notification appearing constantly.
Tried to make them go as silent report by changing profile, but it did not work.

It's seems to happen more often when using a web page from the Google domains or Microsoft domains.
And happens less when using private domains.

Bitdefender needs to communicate with Microsoft or they will be flooded with support tickets on this. The more and more people report this it will force the two (Bitdefender and Microsoft) to action this. If we ignore it this will take longer to be resolved. Please log a ticket with Bitdefender and with Microsoft.

Tried the fix, did not work cuz the problem is NOT USER SIDE.
The problem comes from Microsoft Network Error Logging, that sends requests for status of network connections from the browsers of users.
And as the browser sends the info back, Bitdefender checks the certificate status, and stops the transmission.

For Bitdefender, Microsoft is a third-party company, and it will not connect with Microsoft. As far as I know, you will have to contact Microsoft support yourself by visiting https://support.microsoft.com/en-us

Hello,
Thread is reopened, sorry for the misunderstanding. You may continue to post your findings here, especially if you got insights from other platforms such as discord or reddit, but I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done from our side. They have an expired certificate from a service that is apparently obsolete. The Bitdefender detection is valid and only microsoft can renew the certificate, so that the notification no longer appears. The best way to move forward would be for all affected users to contact microsoft and let them know about this. We can't simply remove a correct detection for an expired certificate, it's the provider's job to make sure their certificates are accurate and up to date imho. Furthermore, other AVs will also return this type of detection, not only Bitdefender. So what do they all do in this case, remove their detection? 🙂

Based on the comments of Alexandru_BD admin, I will add these two sites to Bitdefender's exception list to see if I continue to get the expired certificate flag. These two sites get flagged way too often for my comfort. Bitdefender is usually excellent in managing these alerts and keeping them at a minimum. I recently installed a VPN service and that's when I noticed the high frequency of flags for these sites. I'll try disabling the VPN service for a day and see what happens. Get back to you on what I tried and any results I get.

Cheers @Hokee and thanks for joining us here.
We now got a couple of threads on this topic, as it seems this is affecting several Bitdefender users:
Microsoft owns the domain, and the SSL certificate recently expired, but there is no danger of malware or harm to the devices. This type of notification is triggered by the Online Threat Prevention module whenever the website you are trying to access doesn't have an SSL certificate (HTTPS) and it's not safe to access, and the alert is also triggered when you try to visit a secured website (HTTPS) with an invalid security certificate and this is what happens here actually.
I understand that several community members have raised concerns about the certificate issue on Microsoft forums, and most probably they are working on a resolution and will release a fix soon.
For further information, you can also contact the Microsoft Support Team.
I hope this gets resolved asap.

Hello all.
You should do these steps:
1. Click Protection on the navigation menu on the Bitdefender interface.
2. In the Online Threat Prevention pane, click on Settings.
3. Click on Manage exceptions.
4. Click on + Add an Exception.
5. Type in the corresponding field this text: https://bzib.nelreports.net/api/report?cat=bingbusiness
6. Enable the switch next to Online Threat Prevention.
7. Click Save to save the changes and close the window.
And say good-bye to the annoning pop-ups. 🙂
Regards.

Well one thing you can do as Bitdefender is give your users the option to disable the notification because thats what is the annoying part. And no add exception is not an option, because you could potentially put yourself at risk just because you want to get rid of an BLOODY annoying POP UP that KEEPS popping up.... (sorry my brain pops a little because of the BLOODY...pop up ;-), i mean just give us the option, yeah i seen it, can't do anything about it keep quiet about it but just block it.

BitDefender I pay every year for this product, I never noticed that there was no "Turn off Notification" until now where every given moment I have it kept notifying me about this Online Threat,
No i don't want to make that site exception, I don't know what that site does to my system.
I changed my browser, I'm no longer using Microsoft edge so i don't get the notification that much.
i was curious so i looked it up and found out everyone else was having the same issue as i am.
so i gave it a try. deleted my temp folder, reset my Microsoft edge settings.
Run disk cleanup.
It still does it.
Please update your Settings let us At least choose what notification to block or mute.
I don't mind bit defender doing what it does in the background. I just want to use my system in peace without having it lock off my mouse from the software I'm using because of a POP UP notification.
I don't even click on my browser I just let it run on the background I'm not doing anything and IT KEEPS POPPING UP.

Rather than having users waste time going through a 7 step troubleshoot boondoggle (which doesn't work), how about just add it to the other myriad of notifications that are silent? They are there if I want to see them but not constantly annoying me by popping up?

Not every solution works for everyone. If you are still experiencing issues, you should create a new post for yourself.
Additionally, kindly limit the comments to yourself instead of stating/bringing other user into it.

Hi @JRJR,
The notification here is legitimate and its purpose is to raise awareness of a potential security risk to the device. Although in this particular case we have established that there is no threat, the product functioned as designed. When a threat is detected, a pop-up notification will be displayed in the lower right corner of your screen and these notifications cannot be disabled. The fact that various types of notifications were suppressed doesn't mean that the product will no longer communicate operation or detection issues. There are still many situations where the user must be aware of what is happening.
