Can you explain to me what this BDTS firewall function is for?

Hello.
Use passive detection mode – concerns Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) device detection. When this setting is off, the Bitdefender firewall listens for DHCP packets only on port 67 UDP. When it’s on, the firewall listens and receives all packets without interfering with DHCP servers that run on the local machine.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a client/server protocol that automatically provides an Internet Protocol (IP) host with its IP address and other related configuration information such as the subnet mask and default gateway. RFCs 2131 and 2132 define DHCP as an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard based on Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP), a protocol with which DHCP shares many implementation details. DHCP allows hosts to obtain required TCP/IP configuration information from a DHCP server.

Thanks for the explanation, do you think I should activate it or better leave it deactivated (which as I understand should be the default option) for the purposes of device and network security?
From the comment it seems that it is also used to scan the vulnerabilities of devices that connect to WiFi so I'm not sure what to do..

@Gjoksi I've received a comment for this thread from "cooper8643m",it has been sent as a notification to my mail address,I suppose that the comment was removed considering that I'm not seeing it here ..
That was the content: " The BDTS (Behavioral Detection and Threat Scanning) firewall function is designed to enhance cybersecurity by providing advanced, real-time threat analysis and prevention. This function leverages behavioral analysis techniques to monitor network traffic and identify unusual or suspicious activities that could signal potential threats, such as zero-day attacks, malware infiltration, or unauthorized access attempts "
If that is the truth, why have I to leave that option deactivated ?
Could you tell me please what you think about this?

Hello again.
That is not true, because that user was banned for spamming.
And that is the reason why you can't see his/her comment.
Just avoid his/her comment, nothing to worry about.

Yeah @Eno-Scott, we stumble across such spam posts occasionaly, that may sometimes evade our anti-spam filters. What some of these spammers usually do is that they insert some kind of introduction, or a text that they think matches an ongoing discussion, then they insert some kind of hidden url in their comment, sometimes even using punctuation marks to mask the hyperlink.
We are well aware of such tactics and we do our best to keep the forum clean and remove spam posts as soon as we catch them, so if you get a notification but no longer see that post, this most likely means that the comment was removed by the admins/moderators for various reasons, or the author deleted their comment/post.Premium Security & Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools user
