How do you search the notifications to see if a specific site was blocked or had a notification.

Since getting Bitdefender I am getting all sorts of sites blocked. Bitdefender functionality has these problems.

  1. When it blocks, it doesn't say the URL which it is blocking. I get these messages that 4 things were blocked but not which ones.
  2. I don't see anyway to search the notifications for a specific url. I have just owned this product over less than 2 weeks and there are 66 notifications already. I am not manually going through them all.

I am suddenly getting weird behavior with a subscription service and there isn't a quick way to see if there is a notification associated with that website.

I went to Bitdefender because Kapersky was going to be unavailable.

Hopefully, there is a solution besides uninstalling Bitdefender.

  • Hello @EdwardHSebesta and welcome to Bitdefender and the community.

The Notifications window can be accessed from the left-side column of the Bitdefender interface. The software keeps a detailed log of events concerning its activity on your computer. Whenever something relevant to the security of your system or data happens, a new message is added to the Bitdefender Notifications area, in a similar way to a new e-mail appearing in your Inbox.

Notifications are an important tool in monitoring and managing your Bitdefender protection. For instance, you can easily check if an update was successfully performed, if malware or vulnerabilities were found on your computer, etc.

Every time a critical event occurs, a counter can be noticed on the icon. Depending on type and severity, notifications are grouped in:

    • Critical events

These indicate critical issues. You should check them immediately.

    • Warning events

These indicate non-critical issues. You should check and fix them when you have the time.

    • Information events

    These indicate successful operations.

You can click on each tab to find more details about the generated events. Brief details are displayed at a single-click on each event title: a short description, the action Bitdefender took on it when it happened, and the date and time when it occurred.

Options may be provided to take further action if needed. To help you easily manage logged events, the Notifications window provides options to delete or mark as read all events in that section.

Since you've mentioned that you are suddenly getting weird behavior with a subscription service, I assume this happens when accessing an URL? If Bitdefender detects anything there and blocks access to that page for some reason, there should be a notification for this. Can you share more details regarding that particular subscription service and what happens exactly when you access the page? If possible, kindly attach a screenshot displaying the message, so we can check and advise further.

  • "SEARCH"

The key thing is "search." Biddefender is a flood of notifications. The idea that I am going to manually do the drop down on each one is unreasonable. Are you an AI bot that just spewed out text, or do you just throw stuff out there as a person to say your responded.

This long text is of absolutely NO value and further wastes my time. Your response is just junk.

I had to choose a software because Kapersky is going away, and it seems that both the chat and community forum is of no worth.

  • Hi @EdwardHSebesta,

To answer your question, there are no chatbots around here and we don't use AI on this forum.

There is no search bar in the notifications' menu because you are not effectively in a browser mode to enter keywords, it's not how the notifications' tab works. The in-product notifications are grouped in 3 categories, as explained above, so you can check for the notifications of interest in the relevant section. Since you've mentioned some sites were blocked, the first place to look for information would be the 'warning events' category.

Please note that I have removed your second thread on this topic since it was a duplicate.

In the event you are dissatisfied with the amount of notifications received, you can set your preferences for them, just tell us what notifications you would like to supress (except for security-related notifications which cannot be disabled entirely).

    Thank you.

  • So the short answer is Bitdefender is defective and Bitdefender doesn't like criticism.

    1. When browsing Bitdefender blocks you from a site, but doesn't tell you what the site is.
    2. When wanting to review your notifications, you can't search them. It is like some software from the 1980s.
    3. When you get a very poor support reply and criticize it, Bitdefender will remove it.

For people who do invesitigative work involving lots of Internet use, Bitdefender will be a problem.

  • Hi @EdwardHSebesta,

Thank you for sharing your concerns here. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot, so hear me out.

I understand that encountering issues with a new software can be frustrating, especially when you are not familiar with the product and it's necessary to take it from scratch.
Of course, we welcome constructive criticism on these pages and we value user feedback as it helps us improve our services.

This is gonna be a long text, so I appreciate your patience.

First, I will start with the basics, to address the first point.

1.Whenever you try to visit a website classified as unsafe, the website is blocked and a warning is displayed in your browser. The warning contains information such as the page URL and the detected threat. In addition to webpages, Bitdefender can block online applications such as games, services, and tools if they access a harmful link or IP address in the background. You always get a pop-up notification “Threat detected” on your screen whenever Bitdefender blocks something.

On Windows computers, you will also find the URL of the blocked website in the Notifications section of the Bitdefender product installed on your device, under the Critical tab → Infected web page detected.
    Here’s an example:

Now, it's important to point out the difference between this type of detection, and another one that can be triggered by the Encrypted Web Scan feature, if the page you are accessing has certificate issues. That's another type of detection. If you can elaborate on what detection Bitdefender returns exactly, I might be able to help here.

2.The absence of a search tab to navigate through product notifications in Bitdefender may be attributed to several factors, including legacy system design, and prioritization of features. While a search function for notifications is certainly useful, it might not have been as high on the priority list compared to other features. Critical events usually require immediate attention and in some cases user intervention is needed, as such, it is not recommended that they be ignored and reviewed later in a few days. Sure, warning events and information events can be checked later on, but you can scroll down through them and if you don't check them once in a blue moon, there aren't that many.

    3. I'm sorry to hear that my responses were unhelpful. Keep in mind that you have reached the Bitdefender forum and NOT Bitdefender Support. This community is an environment where Bitdefender users, enthusiasts and fans can engage, exchange ideas, support eachother and share their knowledge and solutions. Support in the community comes from users such as yourself.

Your second post was not removed because it contained criticisms about the product, that's absolutely fine, feedback is welcome and encouraged around here (within reason and decency, of course). As explained earlier, the discussion was deleted because it was basically identical with the one we are having right now.

In our collective effort to maintain an organized and efficient platform, deleting duplicate threads is a good practice and part of our moderation duties. This not only keeps our forum tidy, but also ensures that valuable insights are consolidated within existing conversations.

Opening the same discussion in multiple places on the forum will not increase your chances to receive help, on the contrary, it may double the work and it will be redundant for members to answer the same thing on several discussions. It's common sense, really.

Should you wish to discuss with Bitdefender Support directly, you can get in touch with them by choosing one of the contact channels listed here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/help/

State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.
