Hi @Lozza,
Did you manage to solve that error message? Is your VPN working now? Like the above article says, there are a few common causes behind connectivity issues and it's necessary to follow a couple of troubleshooting steps in order to identify the root cause.
To answer your other question, the basic VPN is included by default in the Bitdefender home solutions.

hi to both of you, but no I haven’t resolved the issue with my VPN , I’m just living without it. I don’t really have the time to spend on issues like this. I’ll have another go at it one day but thank you for trying to help it’s much appreciated.

@Lozza kindly check if the VPN is working now.
Based on my findings, there has been a temporary technical issue with the VPN yesterday evening, but this was resolved shortly after it was found and everything should be back to normal now.

If the VPN is still not connecting now, then the issue you are encountering is unrelated to the previous known outage. It might be something else, so if the issue persists next time you try to connect the VPN, please use the link below to get in touch with the Bitdefender Support engineers, because by the looks of it, more information is required and they need to check a few things there and find out what's preventing the connection. I think the first step would be to ensure you are running the latest version and take it from there.I recommend reaching out to the Support Teams because it seems that we have exhausted all the available basic troubleshooting steps on the forum, thus I think this now requires a more thorough investigation. Go to the link above and state your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.
Let us know how it goes and if the VPN connection could be reestablished successfully.
