Partners Device Setup

I have paid the subscription version and sent links for setting up security on my partners devices but it seems that it wants my log in details....... yet surely it should be her details...... surely I don't give her my login details to access such as password manager.... TIA

If the subscription is under your account, you will need to enter your account login details when logging into your partner's account so that she can use the premium version. Otherwise, if she logs in with a new account, she will receive a trial version because the subscription is not under her name. This is not unique to Bitdefender; it's the same with every other antimalware.

  • Hello,

@Spud999 what type of protection are you attempting to install on the other device? Is it just device security, or the password manager? And what subscription do you have?

For the record, the account holder's credentials are not required when protecting other devices under the same license/subscription.

However, there are some limitations in place. There is a limit on how many autologins you can do in a certain period of time, and you can only autologin from the country where the Central account was created. So, if you send invites to someone from another country, or if the person trying to use the install link is connected to a VPN in another country, the link won't work and they will be prompted to enter the main Central account credentials.
This happens because a login attempt from another country can be a sign of suspicious activity, so the login security measures in place will be triggered if someone abroad is trying to use an install link coming from your account.
These restrictions also have the purpose to deter unfair usage and unauthorized resale of license slots.

If you can elaborate on the context surrounding the install, we may be able to further advise here.

    Thanks,

    Alex

And I think what @Flexx was trying to say is that the other person(s) installing the protection using a link coming from your account, should not use their own Central account (if they have one), but the installed app must be linked with your Central account, because this is where the subscription is running. But this doesn't mean that they are required to enter your account credentials, as these should be available to the account and subscription holder only (except for the scenarios I've described in my previous comment).
Perhaps the below article better illustrates the process involved:

    I hope this helps.
