How to stop Bitdefender blocking my internet?
My internet is no longer working despite my laptop saying it's connected to my home WiFi. It's not a problem with my WiFi as I've turned my mobile data off on my phone and still have connection using only my WiFi.
The only thing that's changed since it last worked is that BitDefender asked me to confirm if my current WiFi is my home WiFi, which I agreed to. How do I undo this and get my internet back? I'd rather not restart my laptop if I don't have to because I've got work that's not been saved to the cloud.

Seems Fire Wall Rule blocks internet connection when VPN is disconnected or down.

Hello,
If this problem persists, try this:
- Go to Network Adapters tab and set the network type to Home/Office using the drop-down menu near its name.
- Then, from the same Firewall Tab, click on Settings from the top-right , then, for the network you're currently connected to, uncheck the stealth mode button to disable it.
If this doesn't solve the issue, go to Firewall, choose the Rules tab, reset Rules, then restart Windows and check if the issue is resolved.
Let us know how it goes.

Really tired of BD blocking internet in laptop. It's fine in phone. Have changed settings. Have reset rules at least six times. What next?

Hi @Thundrrr,
Does the internet connection resume if you turn the firewall OFF?
Check for other security solutions, firewall programs or VPN/PROXY and uninstall them if any. Restart Windows and check if the issue is resolved. If this is not the case, Turn OFF all Bitdefender modules from the interface in order to find the culprit one. Here you will find the complete steps:If the internet is still not working afterwards, enter Safe Mode with Networking and check if
you have Internet access. Check these instructions:Let us know how it goes.

Tried disabling everything. Browser now runs OK and Ookla tells me I have the bandwidth I expect. But Whatsapp still tells me there is no connection.
This is such a basic app, can't believe I'm having problems.
Not willing to waste ANY more time (this has been going on for three days now) dropping your product will buy something else. Obviously I am not the only one with this totally fundamental issue.
very fed up.

Hi @Yasdnil,
I'm sure this can be resolved, but first you need to find out what exactly is blocking the internet connection, so is it the firewall or the VPN in this case, or something else, perhaps one of the security modules? Did you follow the instructions abvove and which ones exactly, what does "disabling everything" mean? Should you require detailed assistance, you can get in touch with Bitdefender Support and I'm sure they will be able to identify the root cause and advise on the next steps to take. Otherwise, Bitdefender is far from a basic app and some troubleshooting will be required in order to get to the bottom of this.
You may not be the only one with this fundamental issue, but the reasons behind it may be different from what others have experienced, because network connection issues do not have an universal cause, there can be many possible causes here.
Should you consider contacting the Support teams, you can use this link:
State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.
I hope this helps.
