Problems with startup of PC and browser.
Q1: "Updating encountered an error (error code: -1002, Could not resolve server). Please check your internet connection and try again."
A second try succeeds.
What is happening here?
Q2: At PC startup and startup of Firefox browser with VPN off, when I try to connect to google it times out. Then same with mychart.
Then if I start VPN and it still won't connect. I tried again after VPN is on 15 minutes and I could access google and mychart.
What is happening here?

I'm still having trouble. I am using a public WiFi of an apartment building. When I start my PC, turn on VPN, and try to link to this Bitdefender expert community I fail. I get the following message:
============================
Unable to connect
An error occurred during a connection to community.bitdefender.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.==========================================
Then I turn off VPN, refresh, and the page connects.
Then I turn on VPN and I can post this message. Is this normal and expected? What explains this? What is happening when a web page won't accept a VPN ink.

This is repeatable.
When I start my PC, turn on VPN (to Chicago), start Firefox with this page (https://community.bitdefender.com/en/discussion/102357/problems-with-startup-of-pc-and-browser#latest) in the address bar - I fail.
The message is the same as above.
Then I turn off VPN, refresh, and the page connects.
Then I turn on VPN and I can post this message.
What is happening when a web page won't accept a VPN-on link?

Hello @stanhilliard,
The Bitdefender update error codes -1002 and -1011 are usually caused by a temporary issue with your internet connection. Bitdefender updates as soon as it manages to successfully download the update files, so it requires a stable network connection to do so. I think the timeouts you have experienced could also indicate fluctuations in the internet connection. As for the VPN, have a look at the protocols first. Some protocols are faster than others and some networks restrict the speed of certain protocols. For a faster connection (and possibly to fix any connectivity issues), try changing the protocol in Bitdefender VPN’s settings until you identify the fastest option.
Changing the DNS may also help and you cand find step by step instructions here:
Let us know what worked for you and if the connectivity issues could be fixed. Should you require additional troubleshooting, you can always contact Bitdefender Support using this link:
