Bitdefender causing excessive thrashing of USB hard disk
I had a problem with Bitdefender causing excessive access (99%) to an external USB hard disk which I was using for my image back-up. I got help from Bitdefender support who suggested I do a total uninstall and fresh install of Bitdefender. This seemed to cure the problem, for a few days, then the excessive disk activity started again. I tried excluding the drive from scanning, but that made no difference. I tried changing the USB port from a powered USB extender to a spare onboard USB3 port and the disk activity stopped. Hopefully it will completely cure the problem and it won't return. I see a few people with a similar problem, so it might be worth trying this.
