One-Click "Optimizer"
I just want to second the point that I think was made last year: when deleting items from the registry, a detailed log should be made of the keys and values that are being removed, the location of that log should be made evident or discoverable, and that log itself should not be subject to a subsequent optimization.
I'm a retired developer. My registry is bursting with garbage. So I think cleaning it up is beneficial. But running this tool trashed the refactor tool in my IDE. So, lacking the details of the 'optimization', I have to either go through a repair or reinstall of the IDE (almost too painful to contemplate) or lose a minute everytime I need to refactor some thing.
You can say 'I shoulda known better', and in hindsight, you'd be right! But I've been happy with the product overall so far (emigrated from malwarebytes), and that fact helped me press the button.

Hi,
Perhaps this is the thread you are referring to?
@camarie maybe you can help us out with some insights here?
Thanks

The OneClick optimizer displays a detailed report at the end.
Is this referring to the step before optimizing, where, for example, Registry Issues displays only total numbers ?
Because the detailed log is displayed but after running the optimization itself:
Did I get this right?

Yes, the information most of us are looking for is your last image, but that is after the fact. Most of us would like to see that information on the 2nd image posted, before we proceed with the next step, Optimize.

Understood. I will fill an issue regarding this.

Thank you, camarie :)

Issue filed. Let's see how the team can schedule it (I won't hide it's quite an infernal period, but we'll have it on our radar).

The photo by camarie displaying the individual registry "issues" with their path and value is the data I am looking for. Is it stored in a log that I can access? If not, can you make it so? (Is that what 'fill an issue' means?)
Thanks everyone who replied

@user1001 Yes, the picture with the report is after OneClick performed the cleanup.
The report is generated in the TEMP location in the product common location (e.g. C:\ProgramData\Bitdefender\Desktop\Temp\report_2025022417561000305810.html), but is not for view in a regular browser, it contains certain synthesized elements for displaying in our interface. We will think on saving the report in a more readable format so that it can be in a more human readable form.
'Fill an issue': I was referring that I will fill myself an issue in our internal system so that we would do these improvements. Of course you can contact support and fill issues on your own, but in this case I already did it.

Hello :)
The only easy access for the information as to what was optimized, is after the fact, is the option at the end to View Detailed report. There is no log stored in the Bitdefender UI as in the Notification panel/All Notifications, unless @Alexandru_BD or @camarie know where it may be stored in a BD folder somewhere else?
Even though Bitdefender tends to be very conservative in the registry keys it finds compared to other 3rd party apps (CCleaner, Glary Utilities etc) I would highly recommend that you back up your registry first, just as a precaution.
As far as "fill an issue" is just a language thing, implying that camarie would submit the issue (pre Optimize view of the registry key paths) to the engineers.
Kind regards :)
edit: I didn't realize that camarie had posted the above (while I was typing this post) until way after the fact :) :)
