Is Bitdefender XDR eligible for BYOD?

Is there any official information whether Bitdefender GravityZone Extended Detection and Response (XDR) is eligible for personal device as part of Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD)?

Hello @sgo,
Bitdefender is able to protect BYO devices using the XDR Network sensor. The sensor works by using a virtual appliance installed in the corporate network. Since the sensor operates passively by monitoring network traffic, it can see and analyze traffic from any device connected to the network, even devices that do not have the Bitdefender agent installed. There are limitations of course, and full response capabilities work only for devices that also have Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools installed. Some more details regarding the Network Sensor can be found here.

Hi,
To provide a bit of context, Bitdefender GravityZone Business Security Enterprise is the core product offering the Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools (BEST) program that can be installed on Windows/Linux/Mac devices and a centralized console with EDR capabilities. Whereas Bitdefender GravityZone Extended Detection and Response (XDR) is an add-on on top of Business Security Enterprise that offers a variety of sensors, one of which is the Network sensor that translates into a virtual appliance, a virtual machine that is installed in the corporate network and acts as a scanning agent inside the network, scanning traffic for machines that already have the BEST agent installed, but also for all other devices connected to the corporate network, that you could consider BYO devices. To install the BEST agent available with Bitdefender GravityZone Business Security Enterprise is perfectly safe for personal devices (it only applies to Windows/Linux/Mac devices). However, you need to take into consideration that the corporate policies applying to corporate devices will now apply also to personal devices. You can edit your policies to work differently for corporate devices as opposed to personal devices used for work as well, depending on the company's needs.
Do let me know if this answers your question.

Hi,
The policy settings are available only in the GravityZone Control Center, that centralized console to which only the IT administrators of the company should have access to.On the local machine you can see if BEST is installed and running, along with the list of installed modules, but the actual configuration of the modules can only be verified in Control Center.
Hope this clarifies the matter.

Hi Alexandru!
Yes, the details you provided clarifies many things!
The policy should probably be set on the company side of the tool. If that's correct, is there a way to view the applied policy from the device where BEST is installed to ensure it's BYOD-safe?
Thanks!
