  • Dear Diana,

Pls help mi!!My computer is getting more weird each day!!Pls help mi to solve the problem Diana!!Wat can i do?

    Dear Agent G and V.Beine ,

I have sent you an email for troubleshooting this issue . I am waiting for your replies .

  • Not sure if this is related or just misleading, but I noticed the BD icon was grey , so I openned the Task Manager and killed the msnmsgr.exe task and the BD turned red again!

  • I have the same problem- Bit Defender does not respond and the icon becomes grayed out. This is a daily problem.

I have a 3 license option and Bit Defender is working fine on my two 32 bit Dell laptops. It is my 64 bit Dell desktop that is the nightmare. Both the desktop and one of my laptops were bought at the exact same time and both are running Windows Vista Home Premium edition.

It all started about two months ago when I noticed Windows would not shutdown or restart and I tried to perform either function. It would hang up. After several e-mails with Bit Defender support, the situation has taken a downward turn. Now I must turn off the machine daily in order for Bit Defender to work.

    Help!

    Dear ChrisB ,

We have sent you a email to the ticket id number 200905111001509 that you have been assigned . Please reply to this email if you have any other questions .

  • Hi diana,

I got the same problem with my bd2009. I have used it for almost 6 months. After I updated my windows xp sp2 2 months ago, I got the problem Bit Defender is not responding, please restart..... Is there any way to solve this problem?

    Waiting for your answer...

  • Refer to my post of yesterday - same thing again tonight. BD icon turned grey with usual vsserv unavailable message - then after killing the msnmsgr.exe processes via task manager (actually 2 msn processes were active) - the BD icon turned red again and no error message/s.

There has to be something in this?

  • Hello, I am having the same issue as other people, it seems. After enabling game mode last night, I am now getting "Bit Defender services are not responding" messages. Rebooting does not help. I am unable to do anything with BitDefender (which I just purchased yesterday and am now regretting since I have found this forum).

The instructions on how to fix this should be posted and should NOT require forum membership or e-mails. Regardless, please e-mail me instructions, as I need to get this working.

I am running 32 bit windows xp sp 3 with BitDefender total security 2009.

    Thanks.

  • I am having the same problem. The BD icon in the toolbar goes grey and says that vsserv.exe is unavailable and to restart the computer.

When this happens vsserv.exe is listed in the task manager running under the SYSTEM user. I turned on the 'Threads' column and it says there are 90 threads for this process. I cannot stop the process or service - it says access denied.

This seems to happen every time I bring the computer out of hibernation lately and it is getting quite frustrating.

I am running Vista x32 Ultimate and BD Internet Security 2009.

I haven't got game mode turned on (and don't think I ever have had).

Sometimes when I have left the laptop one for a few hours and then come back the computer has been rebooted. Vista reports that the cause was the AV software but doesn't give specific information.

I also find that sometimes after a reboot the 'Scan Activity Bar' is shown eventhough the setting for that display is turned off.

Can you please send me the steps/tools to fix the vsserv problem and give me some hints if you know a solution to the other problems.

    Thanks

  • <img class=" /> This whole thread makes me laugh, everybody having the same problem yet your being told the fix is individual.

i had Norton 360 before BD 2009 internet security and any problems got fixed automatically and if it wasnt fixed automatically the online support was A1 i had 2 problems and they were both addresse and fixed within 24 hours.

BD had great reviews so i switched (wish i had not now).

SO not only do i get this problem on both my PC (win XP Home SP3) and laptop (Vista Home Prem) i also on BOTH have the malware not scanned issue on both ( wont scan and says you have not scanned for 1** days), i have tried all the fixes/updates for the malware issue and still not working (NOTE has never worked since installing BD)

FIXES should be easy. Very unimpressed

I encountered this problem quite long ago, then I tried to kill the msnmsgr.exe as suggested by P Aroney. To my surprise, the icon turned red again. I think it has something to do with the messenger.

its not about having more than 1 antivirus in your pc o laptop, i also having this problem before.. and so disappointed, but then I'd got the answer.

    1. go to 'task manager'

    2. go to 'processes' tab

    3. click at 'show processes from all user'

    4. continue

    5. find the vsserv.exe, right click, and choose 'end process tree'

    6. then go to 'services' tab, find 'VSSERV' (make sure the status is 'Stopped')

    7. right click at VSSERV and choose 'start service'.

    8. then the bitdefender is back to normal.

i did this on my pc, and its work. i don't know if it's not work in yours. anyway, I tried to help you all the best i can because even the Bitdefender admin didn't answer the problem correctly . thank god I'd manage to find the answer by myself.

why is it so hard for me to send this comment..always been blocked..######! <img class=" />

  • I need a ticket thing too. I tried reinstalling it on both my desktop and laptop and now it's even worse. Use to only freeze up my computer for a min or two, now it stays gray for 10 or more min at times.

  • I'm the reseller of Bitdefender at Malaysia. My customer also face this "Bitdefender Services Are Not Responding" problem. What normally i do is that I uninstall it and reinstall back(no using cd but using April Bitdefender installer). Usually problem solved. I can sure this is the problem with bitdefender program. Among 10 customer, about 3-4 customer will come back to ask me solve this kind of problem. Quite frustrated. Remove and reinstall back take about 1 hours ++. Last time bitdefender 2008 i sold a lot ......seldom have problem.

Planning to sell another brand of AV.......

Bitdefender should find out what problem in this software so this problem won't exist in version 2010....

  • Alex,

Please send me the email as well so that I may (hopefully) resolve this issue on my pc.

  • I was also having the "Bitdefender Services Are Not Responding" problem pretty much everyday after installing Antivirus 2009. It required a reboot because sometimes it was even locking my computer up. The only way i have been able to eliminate that problem.... 7 days so far and no reoccurence yet, was to do the following: Disable the Game and Laptop mode, Disable Automatic Vulnerability Checking, and Disable Privacy Control. I'm not exactly sure which one of these features, or combination thereof may have been causing the problem, but since doing that i've had no problems with it. Kind of like pretty much cutting the program to the bare minimum, but that's all i really need it for anyway :) . If it begins to happen again, i'll come back and let you know.

absoluetly this problem's related in messenger(Windows Live Messenger),when msnmsgr.exe was terminated from task manager BD is normal.

  • We have developed a patch that will solve this issue after you run it.

    Hi,

I have tried that with no luck. I notice there is an email floating around that has a solution regarding "Bitdefender Services are not responding".

Any help with this would be appreciated.

  • I am getting the same problem. I have even tried disabling the vsserv process to no avail.

Please Bitdefender get this fixed as I do not want my security compromised.

You're earliest reponse would be appreciated.

  • Hello ImTheRhino ,

We have sent you an email in order to determine the exact cause of this issue . Please reply with the files that we need .

  • Please could you send me the email detailing how to solve the "Bitdefender Services Are Not Responding" for 32 bit LapTop using Vista.

    Many thanks

  • Getting this problem since yesterday. I tried updating all day and this morning thinking maybe a previous update broke it and many people were getting the same problem and it would be patched soon. I'm on a Windows XP desktop.

On a side note, I cannot browse the internet while BitDefender is like this, and I'm assuming it's Bitdefender that's doing that. Isn't this kind of counterproductive since I have to post on the forums from work...?

  • I am getting fed up with this. I have been getting grey icon since past few days and it has not turned red at all no matter what I do. And it has blocked internet access to Msn, Microsoft Word, Nokia Update and almost all programs. I could sign in Windows Live Messenger but nobody could talk to me while my status is online, neither could i talk to anybody(the messages bounced back).

I have used the live chat to find a solution but till now they have not replied to me. I don't want to keep uninstalling and reinstalling which so far is the only successful method I found.

My Ticket ID is 200907071009871. I have sent all the things needed, and I need a solution quick because I am worried about my computer being unprotected for so many days.

Any help will be much appreciated

  • Hello alex,

I've been having this problem, too. It happens when i'm browsing. sometimes, i've had to restart the computer to turn the icon back to red. at other times, it has turned back red on its own without any restarting. is the problem different in the two cases?

BitDefender antivirus2009, Windows xp 32-bit, No other antivirus program on the comp. I also don't use Game Mode, etc.

  • I'm brand new to BitDefender, having purchased BitDefender Internet Security at 9:26pm Eastern Time on July 26, 2009.

I'm also not going to be a user of BitDefender Internet Security as of 5:25am Eastern Time on July 27, 2009, and wish I had found this forum well before I'd made the purchase (and yes, I'll be asking for a refund).

I'm experiencing the same problems: BitDefender services are not responding. BitDefender is locking up. My computer is locking up when I attempt to run BitDefender. I ensured that there was no trace of the previous AV software on my system prior to installing BD. I uninstalled and re-installed BD. I am not computer illiterate and have more than a vague idea what I'm doing.

Then, trying to find some kind of solution to the problem (since it exists on my main computer - which needs to be fully functional for work in three and a half hours, and which I've been up literally all night trying to find a fix for), I found this thread.

Many others have said it, but I'm going to throw my two penn'orth in as well: The support shown here for this problem has been laughable at best. This was originally posted back in the beginning of April. It has now been more than three months since that first post, and as recently as yesterday people were still having problems.

All private e-mails, a tool that provides BD Support with every single thing going on on your system at the time it's run, nebulous responses and the oft-repeated "uninstall and re-install" haven't worked. The lack of some kind of publicly-announced update or fix is amazing when there are so many people with this issue.

So, in the next few minutes I'll be uninstalling BD. I'm going to have to - the *only* thing I can do online at this point, thanks to BD blocking my connections, is stay on the path for this thread. All other internet connections have been blocked by BD. I can't even send or receive e-mail.

Good luck to everyone else out there who has this problem and is trying to tough it out for a fix. After less than 12 hours, I know when to accept futility and move to a reliable piece of software.

I need a ticket. My Bitdefender won't work.. send me please B)

  • Hello all ,

As a workaround for this issue, we would like you to follow the instructions from the next topic : http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=14743 . Also , post here the results that you obtained after you ran these steps .

    Thank you .

  • I too was having these problems. I uninstalled using the uninstall too and tried to reinstall, but when I do it asks me if I want to remove the it and the repair box is grayed out. If I select to remove it, it pops up with an error that says a network error has occurred when trying to read from bdts.msi. I checked for the file on the path mentioned and it doesn't exsist. I'm guessing it can't find it due to the fact that I uninstalled it already. So now I'm unable to reinstall it again since it thinks it's still there when it's not.

Any ideas on what to do?

    Thanks!

  • My Bitdefender are not responding and the update can't finish. What is wrong?

  • Does anyone else have any concern as to why an Antivirus company is using sendspace.com to host a workaround for their product? Why are you not hosting it on your own secure servers? This seems strange to me - I have no wish to patch a program, which is supposed to be my protection from malware, with a file that is not hosted on their own servers and protected by user agreements.

    Jeff.

    1. Please follow the next link:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/6yltpv and save the ProductTweaks.xml file on your system .

    Hello jpaprocki ,

Follow the next link : http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9...1bd/msicuu2.exe and download from the Microsoft web page a special tool called Windows Installer CleanUp Utility . After the download is complete I want you to install this tool.

Now click on Start from Windows and choose All Programs. Look after the Windows Install Clean Up program and open it. A new window will appear and you will have to look on that list after BitDefender . Select it and choose Remove. In case BitDefender is not displayed in that lists , please download the uninstall tool one more time , run it , reboot your system and after that , download and run the installation package of the product that you purchase from one of the following links :

    BitDefender Antivirus 2009

    BitDefender Internet Security 2009

    BitDefender Total Security 2009

    Hello jeffb ,

The file in question " ProductTweaks.xml " , is not tool or a patch developed by us . It is simply a modified copy of a file that you can also find on your system , if you go to in the mentioned location . Also , it was uploaded by us and it can not be modified by anyone , so it is secure to download it .

We have chosen a free upload website , because this workaround can be followed until the first half of August , when we will release a major update that will solve the "Services Are not Responding " issue that is related to the ProductTweaks file .

    Thank you .

    Thank you .

The windows cleaner worked to remove what was left of BDTS 2009.

I downloaded the BDTS 2009 again and attempted to reinstall and I get another error part way through the install:

    Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\19DA5B38B475F704C8D56E26F33C47A9\A05C0E6476F19B644B6A1B3542EF5C7E.

Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personel.

That is as far as I can get on the install. I'm running as administrator and UAC is turned off while installing the software.

    Thanks!

We need to further investigate this issue . I have created a support ticket for your case and sent you an email with some instructions that you need to follow. Please reply with the files that we need when you can .

  • So in August there will be a Major Update ?

By that time 1 YEAR of my 2 Year PAID subscription has gone by , 1 year without it working properly for 1 Day ?

Glad I switched , but will try it on my old pc...
