Real-time Protection Settings - Bd 2010

Options

I would like to ask why are dialers and keyloggers set to be skipped from the real-time scan in BD 2010. Should they be skipped or not?

Comments

  • And talking about settings, in Deep Scan we have the installers and CHM archives excluded by default. Do you recommend to check that option so that those items can be scanned too or not?

    Thank you.

    Hello AndreiRC ,

As you said , in the BitDefender Real Time Protection dialers and keyloggers are skipped from scanning . They can be detected if you run a Deep System Scan . The reason why this action was taken is because of the improved feature of Active Virus Control . When enabled , this feature will detect , monitors and analyze the behavior of the applications running on your computer and alerts you if an application has a suspicious behavior.

CHM is a file format used for most Windows help-files .A CHM help file have a .chm file extension. You can find a chm file accessing the next location from your system:C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2010\_enHTML .

Using some special programs , you have the possibility to archive your emails under the CHM (Compiled HTML Archive for Mobile Devices ) format and this comes with the possibility to archive some undetected infected attachments . That is why BitDefender , gives you the possibility , by checking this option to scan inside this type of files. Even if you do not do check this option , the possibility to get infected is reduced , because an infected file cannot execute itself as long as it is inside an archive.

    Thank you .

  • Well, I'm not archiving e-mails anyway so that's alright.

    Thanks for your answer.
