Attacked Vs. Infected

I have Bitdefender Internet Security 2009 and for the first time a window popped up saying "Trojan.bs is attacking your computer". I've never seen this before and immediately shut everything down (including unplugging my modem) to do a My Document, Full System and Deep System Scans. Nothing was found but I'm still worried that my computer could be infected with something. Is that possible? Just because a window popped up saying my computer was being attacked, does it also mean my computer could be infected?

Thanks

    Hello littlebitz,

Considering the BitDefender Naming Conventions, Trojan.bs is not a valid signature name. Are you sure it's the correct and full detection name?

Also, could you please describe how exactly did that popup look and what were you doing when it appeared? If that popup was generated by BitDefender, then:

    - the popup should have the general look as the rest of the BitDefender 2009 interface and popups/alerts

    - a record of that detection must be registered in BitDefender History (open BitDefender Security Center in Advanced Mode, and click on History, on the lower right corner, and take a look at the Realtime Protection entries. Is there any reference of this alert there?)

In case that popup shows up again, please take a screenshot of it (press the Print Screen key on your keyboard, which is located generally in the upper right section of the keyboard). Paste the screenshot in MS Paint (or any other image editing software), save the image as JPG and attach it to this topic.

We are looking forward to your reply.

  • Hi Cris and thanks for replying so promptly. The little window that popped up was right over the task bar where the computer clock is, and it said Trojan.BS. It happened really fast, and I'm really sure it said Trojan.BS, as soon as I saw it, I shut everything down. Same type of little window that appears when a CD is inserted and Bitdefender's pop up window, pops up asking if it needs to scan the CD. Now that you taught me how to look at my history though, it says Trojan.Clicker.CM and Action Taken: Blocked.

It says it was blocked, so do I have anything to worry about?

  • Could you post the location of the detected threat? (also, from History, at the same place where you found that detection name, it should be a location)

    Cris.

  • C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\KL4CEN32\popup[1].php

Bitdefender history says Trojan.Clicker.CM and that it was blocked.

It says it was blocked, so do I have anything to worry about?

  • Yes, I'd say you are safe. If any other problems or popups appear in the near future, please post back (also take a screnshot of the popup, if it doesn't look like BitDefender's popups). If necessary, we will send you some tools to take a closer look at the situation of your system.
