Can't Turn Off Parental Controls
We have Bitdefender 2010 installed on several machines in our office. The computers are hooked to a domain, and multiple users can log on to each PC using their domain accounts. We have never activated the parental controls on any of the machines. Suddenly this morning the parental control begin blocking everyone from the internet on all computers. I have had to struggle to figure out how to disable the parental control on each account on each machine, but several of the machines will not let me do anything.
On the machines that work, I have to run the Bitdefender control as administrator from the user's account, and then unselect the parental control. If I actually log in as administrator, it will not show any of the other users under parental control, so I cannot configure the other accounts.
One two machines, however, even if I run the Bitdefender control as administrator from the user's account, it will not let me configure the parental controls for that user. It literally will not let me click on anything. When I click, nothing happens.
We have had this setup for about 2 months now with no problems. Suddenly this morning this problem develops.
Thanks
Kyle

Hi Kylek,
Windaube on the french forum has the same issue, however he did not tell whether his son's computer is on the family network.
I have never used the parental control function (just told friends with children and pre-teens to put the computer in everyone's view and certainly not in a bedroom) and I can't really help you.
Nothing changed in the Firewall rules advanced parameters ?
Could an update in parental control bring a bug? Maybe, however I did not notice anything on my computer.
Maybe give some more details on your network (windows XP? Vista? Seven?)
It could help the helpdesk
Have a nice evening,

Hi, Lionet,
Thanks for the feedback. I will check out the French forum.
Bitdefender Firewalls and Windows Firewalls are all turned off on the workstations because we have two firewalls on the LAN -- one on the router and one on the Server -- and if we turn the firewalls on on each machine, then they cannot connect to the network. So we just use Bitdefender for antivirus and antispam protection. No firewall and until now, no parental control. Of course we don't need parental control in the office.
Server runs Windows Server 2008 R2.
All the workstations are running Windows 7, either Ultimate or Professional.
We did not change any parameters. They just started having the problem out of the blue this morning. I assume it is either due to an update in BD or in Windows. I am the only one in the office who can change settings on the Bitdefender because nobody's accounts have Admin privileges except mine. So I know that nobody changed any settings.
We have managed to fix all but one computer now, but it is a very tedious procedure that has to be repeated for each user on each machine. I cannot seem to find a switch for shutting off parental control for all users. We probably need to upgrade our BD versions to some sort of enterprise or network-compatible version, but I have just not had time to fuss with it since we installed the domain. It seems that maybe the Home or Home Office version does not really like to work with the domain environment. It does not recognize domain user accounts the same way it would local accounts. Why it has not had a problem for the last two months and suddenly does this morning, however, is a little puzzling.
Thanks again.
