Bitdefender Internet Security 2010 Or 2011 Crashed On Window 7 64-bit When Running The Anti-virus Sc

I recently have upgraded my computer from WinXP to Windows home 7 64-bit OS and since then, either the bitdefender internet security 2009 or 2010 or 2011 fails to run the aniti-virus scan program and keep crashing on my computer which causes the blue screen to be displayed and ended up I had to reboot my computer ( eg. 15 times I tried already).

I now installed the Norton Internet Security 2010 trial version while waiting for this to be sorted out to keep my computer healthy and virus free.

Further info here. The bitdefender installation process seems to be completed 100% successfully without a complaint but only when I try to do a quick scan or deep scan on my computer which less than 10 seconds or so, the program crashes my computer to cause the blue screen to be displayed.

Please help urgently as I wanted to continue using what I paid for and not the Norton Internet Security 2010 trial version which eventually will run out of the trial benefit.

  • The fastest way to troubleshoot your problem would be to run the SupportTool that gets installed with BDIS 2011 and send the log files to BD tech support for investigation. This would mean uninstalling Norton using their clean removal tool. Reboot your PC and then run the BD clean removal tool to make sure all traces of all previous BD install attempts have also been removed. Reboot the PC and again install BDIS 2011 from this full-file direct download link.

Reproduce the problem and then follow this procedure to submit the log files to BD tech support:

    1. First please unplug the Internet cable from your computer or disable the Wireless adaptor if you are using one. This prevents the supporttools files from being automatically uploaded.

    2. Click on Start and then choose My Computer/Computer.

    3. Browse to:

    C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2011

    - considering that BitDefender was installed on the default C partition

    4. Double-click on the supporttool.exe file - if you are using Vista or Windows 7, right-click on the supporttool application file and select Run as Administrator

    5. Click on Next, wait a few minutes for the progress bar to complete and then click on Finish

    6. A file will be created on your desktop. Please move it to a location of your choice (i.e. move it on your c:\ drive)

    7. Reconnect your internet cable (only after you have moved the file to the new location)

    8. Upload the created file HERE

    9. Include a detailed description of the issue you are encountering and a screenshot of the error message, if there is one.

    10. Send a PM (Private Message) with the download link to DanyDan of tech support. Include a link to this topic and give him as much detail as possible about your PC - exact symptoms, hardware (CPU type/speed, Memory installed, etc.), OS and version, 32-bit or 64-bit, any other security software installed or previously uninstalled. Any other relevant configuration information such as did you a true "upgrade" or did you format your HDD and do a scratch install of the Win7 OS?

It may take several days for them to analyze the files and respond depending on their workload, so please be patient.

    Regards,
