Vsserv.exe (a Bitdefender Application) Is Making My Laptop So Slow It Does Not Work

I cannot use my PC for more then a couple of minutes at a time when vsserv.exe is running.

It is taking up over 20% to 60% of my CPU every few minutes. It prevents me from even opening up the Start on the Windows menu toolbar!

I am on WinXP Pro with SP3.

Please help.
