Black Screen On Update Reboot
Hi,
After installing and updating total security 2012, it asked me to restart my computer. Upon restarting my computer, after the initial loading screen, I get a black screen with a flashing white line in the top left corner. My os is windows 7 64 bit. I have tried running on safe mode but I can't get to the menu when pressing f8.
I have tried numerous times turning off the computer and turning back on again but it remains the same. The first time it happened in the top left corner it said bit defender tldr cleaned or something like that. Now it only has a flashing white line.
Thank you for reading and I hope that this issue can be solved easily.

Hello
Welcome to our forums.
In the current situation, I recommend you to repair the operating system using the recovery disk.
You can use one of the links below just to guide you through this process:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetr...rtup-repair.htm (this one has 10 pages, check the number on the bottom)

After this, you have here all the steps to reinstall Bitdefender 2012 on your machine:

Thank you for your time. Happy Holidays!0 -
Even after inserting the disk it remains as a black screen. I'm at my wits end and have no idea how total security could screw my computer up so badly. Ironically it's done worse then any virus I've ever had.

Welcome back
Did you make all the settings in BIOS to boot from the Windows DVD?
The disk is spinning in the unit? You should see the screens described in those links.
Thank you. Take care.0 -
Ah, sorry the recpvery disk is working now. The start up repair says it cannot automatically repair the computer and I don't have a system image to recover from.

Welcome back.
In this case, please use a Linux Distro to recover / move the files from the system partition to another partition or an external HDD / DVD.

After this, please use the Windows disk to reinstall the operating system.
From what you are saying in the last post, your version of operating system doesn't have the recovery option enabled by default or it's a custom OEM version.
Thank you.0
