You can deny the auto execution by disabling the Windows Scripting Host. You can do it very easy with this tool. All what you have to check is deactivate scripting host which can be found under the Miscellanous settings section. Don't forget to press on apply settings. This will prevent all scripts from being runned.

  • While it is a very good idea to disable scripting on your computer, it doesn't stop all the worms of these type from propagation, only those written in VBS or JS. If you wish to disable AutoRun for your drives, you can do the following:

    1. Open the registry editor (either from the start menu or by typing "regedit" in the Run box
    2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
    3. Look for a value named "NoDriveTypeAutoRun". If it doesn't exists, create a new DWORD value with this name, if it exists, double click on it to edit its value
    4. Set it to FF

You can get a detailed explanation of this value from Microsoft.

The only drawback of this method is that CDs / DVDs which rely on this behavior to start themselves won't work automatically, however you can always start those programs manually.
