Web Master, Help Required

I cannot find ANY links to web-master on the board-index ... so I hope this thread does not die.
I have received an email from Bitdefender ...
<member name> has successfully added you to their friends list.
With one link to "Manage your Friends"
- what does <member name> has successfully added you to their friends list." actually mean.
A request for friendship ? I have not put out a request for friendship !
When I follow the email link to "Manage your Friends" all fields/list are dead empty.
So how would I know I have a friend ?
Looking at my "Viewing Profile" page
Moderation Options > New Friends is ... [Disabled - Allow addition without approving]
Even with set to [Enabled] ... how do I "find" (acknowledge) the new friend.
Am I supposed to create a reciprocal "add friend" ?
The only work around that I can see is to use emails outside of Bitdefender, which might not be appropriate for for me or many forum members.
I would appreciate advice on what to do 
... a help page would be helpful !
