Problem - Need Help
Hello:
I have a problem.
I have an older Celery laptop running WinXP Home.
Because its been acting odd lately, and none of the anti-malware software
I'm currently using was detecting any problems, I download and burned
the Rescue CD.
It booted fine, seemed to run fine, and when done reported that there were
3 issues - but only displayed 2. I recognized these 2 as old archives which
really weren't needed, and told BitDefender to delete them. Which it did.
When I clicked on the "logoff" button to end the program, it went thru a
shutdown routine - black screened and then froze.
The machine would not proceed nor shut off. No response to keyboard or
mouse input. Power on/off button had no effect. It just black screened and
locked up tight.
Fortunately the battery is weak in this one, and after a hour and a half the
machine ran out of juice and shut down. Plugging into 110 it started and
rebooted WinXP Home. But the way the software locked up the machine
makes me nervous. I'm now hesitant to try it on my main workstation.
Has anyone run into this type of problem?
And is there a solution for it?
TIA

Hi minnesotaty,
Is the problem solved?
I only used the rescue cd twice, one, two years ago, on friends's machines (iso downloaded and rescue cd made on my machine). It got rid off nasty malwares but it too ages to complete the full cleaning. We let it work at night once.
Maybe you thought the system is frozen because the task is so long to fulfill?
