Problems With Apple Software Update Downloads

After installing BitDefender Anti Virus for Mac, noticed that Apple software updates are not able to be downloaded. Tried 3 times to update iTunes, due to error messages from Apple stating that the download was not completed. However, per BitDefender, the software updates were all successfully accomplished. Upon going to iTunes, noticed that the new version (12.2.2) had indeed not yet been downloaded. Anyone else having software update problems after installing BD AV for Mac?
