Bitdefender Antiransomware Gripes
Regarding BitDefender AntiRansomware : -
Unfortunately, the software does not auto update when a new version becomes available. Not only that but the previous version ceases to work and in order to install the updated version, the previous one should be uninstalled. This is hopeless for numpty users which many are. They are simply left unprotected.

Hello Hake,
Thank you for your feedback, at this time the vaccine does not have a auto update feature, however the product gives you a notification that a new version has been released for you to update it yourself.

Thanks for your response Sorin. 'Numpty' is a UK word for novice or non-competent. The lack of an automatic update feature means that for the novice or non-competent user the protection only lasts as long as the present version. When a new version is available, the previous version stops working and so AntiRansomware protection ceases totally. The least that BitDefender can do is not to disable AntiRansomware's protection when a new version is detected. Any protection is better than nothing.
Not all Windows PC users are competent managers of their computers. They are the people who most need AntiRansomware protection software.

If you're referring to the very first release, that one was discontinued as the virus changed and was obsolete.
For the newer versions the protection is still in place even tho you haven't updated it or have it active, at least a part of it.
Your feedback regarding adding a auto update has been forwarded, however for such a tool the best way is to have a reinstall due to the way it immunizes the system.

Are you guys talking about the Anti-Ransomware Module in BD AV 2016 Plus?
Thanks. Peace. Alan

It is a great pity that the protection value of this excellent software is less than it deserves to be because of the need for users, including inexperienced ones, to manually update the software. If unskilled users are unable to perform the update (and installing on top of a previous version has caused problems) then they are unprotected. The previous version ceases to be effective when it detects an updated version. It would be better for the out of date version to continue to operate with occasional reminders than an updated version is available.
