There was an error while downloading one of the installation files

I have been trying to install Bitdefender 2017 for the past 2 weeks. I thought maybe bitdefender download servers were congested... but this is getting to be ridiculous. Just to download the installer was difficult without the download dying halfway.

I'm running a freshly formatted Windows 8.1 desktop. This download issue happens both on my Windows 8.1 desktop and Windows 10 laptop. How can I install bitdefender if their servers are constantly over capacity? Should I file paypal chargeback?

The servers are not congested and there is plenty of bandwidth to go around.

What kind of connection do you have?

How is the machine connected to the internet ? Cable / Wi-Fi ?

Do you have any other security solutions on that machine ?

Have you tried disabling the router's firewall? It would make sense to encounter the same issue if both of the machines are connected to the same router.

I've tried two different routers, two different connections, two different computers, and both wired and wireless. This problem persists and I can guarantee you it is either a problem with your servers or a hop between your servers and my connection in Ontario, Canada.

As a web developer, I do a lot of downloading - funny enough, bitdefender downloader is the only application I've had trouble with in the past 6 months.

Hi,

I had the same issue with 'Total Security 2017'. I did not turn off the firewall or windows defender I just removed the program with the uninstall toolkit https://www.bitdefender.com/site/view/uninstall_consumer_paid.html, rebooted my laptop and connected to the internet with a LAN cable not over WI-FI and it worked.

Usually my download speed is about 600 KB/s but when downloading Bitdefender it was about 100 KB/s, max 300 KB/s. I think this has to be an issue with the bitdefender servers, so connect to an internet with good speed.
