Global Exclusion List

I'm looking to migrate from on AV to Bit Defender. A large portion of my global exclusion list is .exe but when I choose "file" and enter say application.exe it goes red and doesn't allow me to save it as if I've typed something wrong. Thanks for any help for this silly problem.
