Update options seem pathetic

I noticed in my tray this morning that there were some windows notifications. I click on the little flag and it said that there were several pending BitDefender Updates that needed to be installed. Are you kidding? My only options in BitDefender Total Security is a slider that allows me to select or deselect "Silent Updates." Why would I want "Silent Updates?" I want RELIABLE REGULAR UPDATES and I want to know that they are happening. I don't want them to flow through some idiotic Windows notification scheme. I want to know if the current version is up-to-date. I want to know that the installed database is up-to-date. How can you have a modern antivirus package in 2021 that doesn't tell you these basic things?
