Error 2002 repeatedly, trying to update the product on a slow internet connection

Options
Trying to apply the product updates on my very new Lenovo P17 laptop, I've been unsuccessful since November 2021. Every time I try it gets to the 80% point, and then cooks for a while, and then fails.

Details of the failure are "2002 error -> try again in a few hours".

Well that's nonsense. It has failed for months. And I suspect the problem is that it's operating on a Verizon cellular internet connection (from phone hotspot), because there is no wired internet available. This produces at best 5mbps download speed (4G LTE), which isn't terrible for ordinary things. And it even works perfectly (although slowly) for Windows Updates, other software updates, etc.

But for some reason BitDefender's updates seem to demand a higher speed than this. Must have been a change somewhere in the past few months because obviously the product got to where it currently is back in November, and has been operating normally for a long time through this underwhelming Verizon cellular internet connection.

    Hello @DSperber,

The error 2002 indicates that our update servers are in the middle of the synchronization process.

This might be caused by a slow internet connection. I would recommend contacting the Technical Support Teams, as more information might be required to troubleshoot this. They can also request logs from you this way and test the internet connection to see if this is indeed the culprit.
