Web protection

iphone user here - brand new to this, started my free web protection trial and then will pay. In the app, it keeps saying I’m at risk and then I have to keep turning it on? Same for the vpn connection. VPN is on in my settings though. Also, how do I find out what the ‘search engines’ traffic categories are?
