Microphone and Win11 Phone Link

I am using MIcrosoft's Phone Link on Windows 11

Rather than being an app with a location in Program Files it seems to be part of the Operating System

I can see how to add microphone access for an app with a specific location or to switch of microphone monitoring

How do I add Phone Link to the "allowed list"

In regards to the microphone monitor settings, check the article below and let us know if it helps:

  • This shows how to add an app (either via Windows Store or via the executable (such as C:\Program Files\******.exe)

but Phone Link is not a separate app

  • Was this issue resolved? I am experiencing the same issue. Phone Link will not function with the VPN on. I have tried to add the file "PhoneExperienceHost.exe" to split tunneling. Howver, that has not resoved the issue.

  • Hi @RobbJ86,

I think several factors could be contributing to this issue. Adding "PhoneExperienceHost.exe" to Split Tunneling alone may not be sufficient, because it's possible that Phone Link relies on additional services and network protocols. Thus, you could try to add the following processes and domains to Split Tunneling as well: svchost.exe; phone-relay.microsoft.com and maybe .microsoft.com.
Another thing to keep in mind is that some VPN protocols (e.g., OpenVPN, WireGuard) can interfere with local network traffic required by Phone Link. Therefore, you can also try to switch between protocols in the VPN app and see which one works best for you.
Also, if this is caused by local network blocking in any way, ensure your phone and PC are on the same Wi-Fi network. Another possible reason could be the firewall. Temporarily disable Bitdefender's firewall to check, or configure it to allow Phone Link traffic. Read these articles for detailed information on the Bitdefender Firewall:

Try these steps as well: Disconnect and reconnect the VPN; restart both your PC and phone, and verify Phone Link functionality afterwards.

Let us know how it goes.
