Portable DVD player

Since switching to Bitdefender my LG Portable dvd writer/player will not work. I formerly had Webroot and there were no issues with playing dvd's with the player on my laptop. Would anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

It's difficult to say without looking at the player in question. But as first troubleshooting steps, I would recommend to disable the security modules one by one and try to play dvd's after each deactivation. This may help to identify the culprit. Remember to reactivate your defenses once you are done.

Do you hear any activity when you put a disc in, or is there no power to it at all? Have you restarted your device and tried a different USB slot?

Otherwise, as @Alexandru_BD said, it may be a process of going through disabling modules one at a time to find out what may be blocking it. I would start by going to the left side of your dashboard, Protection/Advanced Threat Defense open/Settings Advanced Threat Defense to Off, then see if you can open the drive and play a disc. Or, Protection/Antivirus open/Advanced/Bitdefender shield/ and disabling it for 15 minutes while you try a disc. Maybe also, Protection Firewall/off.

Maybe try a different media player, like VLC media player which is a light program and has a small footprint, and see if that will load and run the disc. If you try it, and after you install it, you'll go to the top menu bar and select Playback/Play which will bring up another window to select Disc and play. Maybe that will work for you?

The player has a lot of toolbar options, including custom playback, pause, snapshots etc for normal mode (main toolbar) as well as full screen. That can be found at the top menu bar. Tools/customize interface/Toolbar Editor.
