BitDefender slow local network/security camera access
Hi, I just purchased 2 years subscrption for Bitdefender Total Security. However, I am experiencing extremely slow access to my local security camera DVR. I typically type my DVR IP address in the Crhome/Edge, and it would remotely access to the video footage. However, I have to wait like 5-6 seconds to play the video, and probably 20-30s to load the login webpage.
I have tried following ways, but unfortunately I can not figure out why the software will slowdown my local network access.
- I have tried to disable Firewall/vulnerability/ransomware remediation/antispam and only keep antivirus on, but I still experienced the issue of slow access to local network security camera.
- I turn on the firewall, under the firewall-setting--I disable prot scan protect. It doesn't fix the issue either.
- I also tried uninstall the Bitdefender and reinstall it, no help as well.
The reason why I know the Bitdefender slow down the access to my home secuirty camera? I have tried to uninstalled the bitdefender from my computer, and I could acess my DVR instantly without any delay or wait, so I know it must be the Bitdefender.
For the past 3 years, I have been using Malwarebytes without any issue, but my friend told me Bitdefender was way better than Malwarebytes, so I bought the program and got this ssue.
Currenlty, I have installed the trial version of ESET internet Security on my desktop, and I have no issue to access my DVR security camera footage as well( like instant access and playback)
Is there any fix on this? or I missed any setting?

Hi @Dummy415
Try disabling, if it's enabled, Bitdefender Anti-Tracker in the Chrome and Edge Extensions, and see if that helps.

I tried this option as well, actually I even removed the anti-tracker in the Chrome and Edge. I have disabled all other features except the Antivirus. Once I uninstall the Bitdefender, everyhing become normal.

I know this will sound like a broad-spectrum approach, but from this article, try disabling the category of, Disable protection features in Bitdefender, re-start your browser and enter your link, and see if it helps. If so, try re-enabling them one at a time to find out what module is affecting your ability to have the video load more quickly. And we can go from there.
Otherwise, you may need to get a hold of Support to try to find out what the issue may be. Unless @Alexandru_BD has any ideas?

I will try it when I get time beucase I had spent few hours last night to figure out the issue. Your link is helpful and it has more things to be turn off, and I think it worth to try it. I thought this would be an easy install and use program. ( like the ESET or Malwarebytes).

From my experience over the years, Bitdefender is excellent at what it does, one of the best, but it can also be a bit finicky at times, maybe a bit too "engrained" into our OS thus causing some glitches which other vendors may not. But it is sporadic, so it can be hard to nail down on a forum webpage. Just being honest :) If needed, Support could look at log files, and probably figure it out.

You could try adding the link in Online Threat exceptions and have it apply to all three features.

Hello.
Since there is nothing left to try, i think your best bet is to contact Bitdefender Consumer Support by chat, telephone or e-mail:
NOTE: Bitdefender telephone support is not toll-free!

Hi,
@Dummy415 I have noticed that you've contacted the Support teams and they require to schedule a remote session to further investigate what is causing a slow internet connection to the local network camera.
Kindly reply to their latest message with the date and time you'd like them to conduct the remote session, so they can schedule the intervention. If possible, try to give them a heads-up 12 hours in advance, to make sure they have a spot available.
Do let us know how it went, if possible, as your findings could help other users that may experience a similar issue in the future.
Thank you and best regards!
