Why can't VPN connect through an EE 4G wifi mini router?

I'm fairly sure that my connection to my EE 4G wifi mini router worked fine at first. That's reinforced by the statement "reconnecting" when Bitdefender Premium VPN starts up. But that's all it does.

But I don't get an error message. It just continues in the "Reconnecting" state.

Can anyone offer any advice?
