What is this? rerun (32 bit)

Over the last 6 or so months I have noticed a pattern where my laptop starts working very hard, all the cooling fans kick in and the hard drive activity goes way up.

When I check task manager, one of the main culprits is 'rerun (32 bit)'. Stopping the process doesn't seem to stop anything noticeable and the high activity levels slow down immediately.

I have not been able to find out what this process does, why it runs or whether it's benign or some kind of virus. I have had bitdefender for a few years now and never once has it identified this thing as a problem, but as it runs almost every day and my laptop can do without the flogging I'd love to know what it is - and if I can safely stop it!

Anyone have any knowledge of this? I run windows 10 pro, fully updated.
