New Parental Control app and VPN

Hi, I used to have parental control installed on my son's Android phone and I use the Bitdefender app on my phone to monitor and set app/website restrictions on his phone. However, as of May9, they stopped the parental control on the app and I have to use the Bitfender Central from the website and also, resinstall the Parental Control app on his phone.

Upon installing the Parental Control app on his phone, it now forces me to allow VPN access on his phone or else the parental control can't be installed. However, after the app is installed, he cannot login to many apps (that requires connection to a server?) on his phone (eg. Pokemon Go, Pokemon Unite). What can I do to fix this?

Also, on the Bitdefender Central website, inside his Profile/Dashboard, I cannot find where I can block his apps anymore. All the previous settings are gone (he can access all the apps even when I blocked them before May9 upgrade). Under "More" there is nothing about applications.

1) VPN Access Issue: Bitdefender Parental Control needs VPN permissions to filter content on your son’s device. This is common for many parental control apps. But, some apps might not work right with VPN on. If your son can’t use certain apps, you could try changing the VPN server or using Split Tunneling. Have a look at the links stated below.

2) Blocking Apps on Bitdefender Central: To stop certain apps from being used by your child, you can go to their Parental Control profile under your Bitdefender Central account. Have a look at the link stated below.

1. VPN access issue: actually I don't even have VPN installed on his phone or my own device before. I did not need to use VPN before this parental control upgrade. So does that mean I have to install the VPN first on both our devices ?

2. Blocking apps: The link you provided shows the old parental control version, there is no Option dropdown with Applications anymore.

Oh I just realized I didn't even buy the Bitdefender VPN. So does that mean in order to use Parental Control, I have to buy VPN?
