Accumulation of BD zero-byte temporary files in macOS Mojave

There is a cache located at: Library\Application Support\Antivirus for Mac\Cache. Currently it contains 2981 files many of which are zero-bytes. The cache occupies 287MB on my internal drive. What's the purpose of storing these files and is it safe to delete them?

  • Hello Johnv,

The files from Library\Application Support\Antivirus for Mac\Cache is the location where the scan saves its cache. We recommend you not to remove these files. Removing the files, the scan will take longer as all your files will be considered as never being scanned before.

  • Hello Roxana,

Over the weekend I purged all the cached files, re-booted the system and ran another scan. The scan time doubled. Your response, for which I am grateful, explains this outcome.

    Regards,
