  • Thank you, Alex, and thanks for the tip about right-clicking the BD shortcut. I first tried right-clicking on the BD icon in the Windows Notification Area, but that didn't work. I had to click on the BD shortcut on my Desktop to make it work.
  • Sorry for the double post earlier. I did go to Control Panel and uninstalled and then reinstalled from an admin account. I was then able to enable Ransomware Remediation from my Standard account. I still cannot change the other settings from the Standard account, but maybe that's by design. I'm a newbie when it comes to…
  • Should read 'Total Security 2020', not 2010. I am also not able to toggle Safe Files and Advanced Threat Defense as well as Bitdefender Shield.

  • I have the same issue. I just installed Total Security 2010 on my new Win 10 Pro PC and am running as a Standard User. The installation program for TS did ask for the admin password several times during the install, which I provided each time. On my old Win 7 Home PC my user account had admin powers and I did not have that…
  • Thank you, DAN57150. I had been using the Quad9 DNS platform (https://www.quad9.net/about/) for a little over a month now and have only had the Bitdefender update problem since my last product update this past Friday. Once I switched back from using Quad9 to "Obtain DNS server address automatically", I am now able to…

  • Sergiu, I did as you suggested. I was not able to load the Facebook page until I disabled Encrypted Web Scan.
  • For those following this thread, I still had to disable Encrypted Web Scan to gain access to some sites (notably Facebook).
  • Thank you, Sergiu. I reinstalled the product and so far updates have been successful.
  • Once again after a reboot, updates are failing, this time with error code -1018 (see screen shot). Please help.
  • 6 hours ago, Stefan I. said: Thanks but I tried that previously when I first had the Chrome issue. It did not work for me. Please see my posts in forum topic "Install and Activation: Error code -3". I just submitted a ticket a few minutes ago since I am having error code -3 messages again when trying to run updates.…
  • Open Bitdefender and go to Notifications, Information.
  • Arrgh! I rebooted my PC and once again I could not access some websites in Chrome. I had to disable Encrypted Web Scan again.

  • I uninstalled Chrome and then downloaded and reinstalled Chrome. That's it! It took only a few minutes and now Encrypted Web Scan is enabled and I am having no problems with sites not loading.
  • This problem has been vexing me for days. At least for my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit PC, the solution was so simple I cannot believe that it worked. I uninstalled Chrome and then downloaded and reinstalled Chrome. That's it! It took only a few minutes and now Encrypted Web Scan is enabled and I am having no problems…
  • I tried your suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not work. I had to disable Encrypted Web Scan again. I want to mention that I had no "Bitdefender Security" folder. The fake-ca.crt file was located in C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender 2017\mitm_cache. Even though I am using the 2019 program, the folder says…
  • I finally got the update to work by following the instructions on the following link: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/10643/ Had to edit my Stealth settings for my network adapter by disabling it. Odd thing is, after the update I turned it back on and the next update worked fine. Go figure. In order to…
  • Here is the message I received in Chrome:
  • I just noticed something new about this issue. This all happened AFTER I had gotten rid of the popup window. I rarely print out hard copy, but today I was printing and had to change the ink cartridges due to poor print quality after I had already printed several pages. It's a local printer connected via USB cable to my PC.…
  • I have exactly the same issue. If I turn off autopilot, standard mode displays. Once I engage autopilot, it switches to game mode. I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I just found this solution on another topic. Open up the BD interface, select Tools, select Profiles, and uncheck "Let Autopilot manage my profiles"…
  • Hello, Yes, this can be a problem on some computers. Go to GUI>Tools>Profiles>uncheck the "Let Autoplilot manage my profiles. Leave "Profiles" on (blue tick). Go back to the main GUI and make sure autopilot is showing on and it says "Standard" in the profiles box. Ro. Thank you! I had this same problem and this approach…
  • Hi I am using bitdefender ts 2015 and for the past few days my profile is stuck on game mode when autopilot is on. Any solutions for this? I want it be standard and then change accordingly like it used to. I have exactly the same issue. If I turn off autopilot, standard mode displays. Once I engage autopilot, it switches…
  • I'm pretty sure a widget is supposed to ONLY be on the desktop. I've used windows widgets before and they're called widgets because they are extra info to put onto your desktop. Am I wrong guys? This guy must not know what a widget is. BitDefender has implemented this correctly as it is on the desktop even though Windows…
  • Ok.Well maybe they can add that feature in just for you. Clicking on the clear bar on the right of the taskbar then clicking it again will bring you right back. Try that. In Windows 7 one can also use Windows key + D to show the desktop. Pressing the same key combo again will restore all of the previously-opened windows.
  • I was wondering if anyone has another security product or 3rd party scanner installed alongside Bitdefender 2013? The reason I ask is before I installed Bitdefender Total Security 2013 I had both Pro versions of Superantispyware and Malwarebytes AntiMalware. I know that BD doesn't allow for install of their own prduct if…
  • Hello You can set the same parameters for VPNs too, it won't affect the security. Take care. Thank you, Christian. I will leave the settings as they are.
