Ok after trying Martin69's solution , it didn't work for me. So i d/l the xml file that was posted in a earlier post , and copied it to the two locations that Martin mentions and low and behold , no more error starting the advanced threat defense. Hope this helps anyone else with the problem.

I have the complete opposite problem , i want to use Safepay for my banking sites and it used to automatically open when i would go to those links , but since upgrading my Bitdefender Total Security to the 2017 program from 2016 , Safepay does not automatically open when i go to these sites. Got it fixed , ran the uninstaller and it asked if I wanted to repair or uninstall , chose repair and everything is working again , nice and fast loading in all three browsers.

Is anyone still running Firefox with Bd2012 and still having problems? If so can you try something for me?? I just did a an update (17mg) on my test machine and the webpages that were going slow or not loading are now loading and very quickly I might add. Check the General-->Optimization tab to see if the box is checked to run a scan when the system is idle. Here is a screenshot. I unchecked that option on my PCs. In BD Total Security 2011 , this option doesn't show up on the general settings tab.
